OPERATORS OF THE 72ND SPECIAL OPERATIONS BRIGADE AT COMPETITION IN KUWAIT
TweetRepresenting the Republic of Serbia at the "Elite SWAT International Competition" is an eight-member team from the elite unit of the Serbian Armed Forces, comprised of chosen three"Griffins" and five "Falcons." These members are carefully chosen based on their physical fitness, marksmanship skills, climbing skills, and other expertise. The team is well-coordinated and consistently achieves notable results in similar competitions, both domestically and internationally. The Serbian special forces arrived in Kuwait on the previous day, February 12, and today, they conducted their first training session at the shooting range.
The "Elite SWAT International Competition" was first organized in 2007, followed by the 2009 edition. The next competition took place in 2016, and it became an international event for the first time in 2017. In addition to the sporting competition, the goal of this competition includes the exchange of experiences and ideas in counter terrorism, resolving hostage situations, and provides an opportunity for comparing and learning about new equipment and the evolution of criminal activities.
The competition begins on February 18, and teams will compete on various courses over the next five days. Unlike a similar competition in Dubai, in Kuwait, special forces will compete on multiple courses on certain days (usually two per day), completing tactical situations both as a group and individually. One of the most interesting courses is planned for the first day, involving an assault into a passenger plane, executed by a six-member team, using Ultimate Training Munition (UTM)[1] handguns.
Another difference is that many courses require competitors to work through them in full loadouts, from ballistic protection (plate carrier or body armor with inserted ballistic protection, as well as a helmet) to firearms and accessories. Our special forces will compete with their service firearms, including the "HK USP" 9 mm pistols, "Glock 17 Gen 4" pistols, juiced automatic rifles "FN SCAR L CQC" and "HK 416 D14.5RS", both in 5.56 mm, fitted with "Aimpoint" and "EOTech" red dot and holographic sights, and other tactical accessories, as well as sniper rifles "Sako TRG" with "KAHLES" optics.
We will closely follow the performances of our team every day of the competition. Be Legendary!
[1] A concept very similar to the well-known FX Simunition training ammunition. Firing UTM ammunition also requires a conversion kit that easily mounts on firearms, allowing shooters to engage in highly realistic close-quarters battle training where they can shoot at each other with satisfactory accuracy, without the risk of serious injuries
